Content of the Muizelhuis collection

After ceasing its operations, the Muizelhuis contacted Cemper in order to find a solid solution to house their collection in a heritage institution. In 2019, ten years after the last concert, an agreement was made between the Muizelhuis and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, School of Arts of the Erasmus University College to transfer the collection to its library.

This collection consists of:

  • Scores from the composition competition
  • Recordings of the house concerts on magnetic tape or on digital carriers
  • Programmes, photo books and posters of the concerts
  • LPs and the CDs produced by the Muizelhuis
  • Archives of the concert organization.

The collection is already largely included in the library catalog of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, except for the archives, which are still protected by privacy laws. When these will be free of rights, they will also be made accessible.

The final goal is to make the complete Muizelhuis collection and archives accessible to musicians and researchers.

The collection is a fascinating witness of private patronage in Flanders in the last decades of the 20th century. It hopefully will inspire new generations of advocates for contemporary music.
